TEACHER TRAINING First Blog Post
We have just started an effective teacher training program about 21st century skills on Friday. Our first points were critical thinking and English as a global language. Critical thinking is so crucial that teachers should be able to think clearly and rationally and analyze ideas to understand the logical connection between ideas.
We have made some tests for the critical thinking issue to see whether we are strong critical thinkers or not. After completing first part of the training, we have started to discuss about the English, as a global language in accordance with Crystal's standpoints. English is a global language, it is free from particular national identities or countries. English is changing and evolving day by day thanks to its speakers and most of the speakers are not native today.
While we were talking about the English, as a Lingua Franca; I have realized that I have to enhance my materials because coursebooks are sometimes limited with just British or American contexts. So English doesn't mean British or American anymore even if it started with that way.
The video of David Crystal and the later discussions during the online sessions led me to think about the particular problem that I mentioned above.
I am wondering about next sessions so much,
